A Global Level 4 DO NOT TRAVEL
Today, the Department of State issued a Level 4 Health Advisory. This warning is the highest level threat warning travel advisory due to risks associated with the Coronavirus.
The Department of State issued the warning this Thursday in countries where commercial travel options are still available. They are warning all US citizens to immediately return to the US unless they are prepared to remain abroad for an indefinite period. They advise all US citizens to avoid all international travel. The World Health Organization on Wednesday March 11, 2020 declared the Coronavirus a pandemic. It has negatively impacted countries abroad with infected persons.
The Virus is Highly Contagious
Due to the highly contagious state of the coronavirus, it is easily contracted from infected persons even when no signs of sickness are apparent. The virus doesn’t discriminate between ethnicity and has effected all age groups with persons 80 years old having the highest death rate.
The virus easily passes between people who have direct contact with infected persons if protective personal equipment is not being used. The Center for Disease Control recommends not having any unnecessary contact with people in social settings and to avoid large groups of people. They further recommend avoiding touching the face, eyes and mouth with unwashed hands. Frequent hand washing is highly recommended with soap and water for a minimum of twenty seconds. A hand sanitizer may be used containing at least 60 percent alcohol if soap and water are not available.
Signs of the virus infection
It has been described that signs of infection include a sore throat with cough, fever and shortness of breath. The virus severely impacts the lungs causing pneumonia like symptoms. Persons with chronic lung conditions have extreme difficulty with the virus. Persons with asthma, and other acute conditions also have negative experiences as well as people that smoke cigarettes and vape.
There are no antibiotics available to date to combat the virus however some are being tested presently.
People should stay at home
Many states in the US are recommending that people stay home and do not go out to public places risking exposure to the virus. Three days ago, President Trump set a 15 day plan in place to slow the virus. He recommends to listen to and follow closely your state and local government recommendations.
If you feel sick to stay at home. Do not go to work or out anywhere and call your medical provider. Do the same for your children if they become sick by not taking them to school and call your medical provider. If anyone in your household has contracted the virus or is sick, do not go out anywhere but call your medical provider. If you are an older person and become sick, stay home and away from other people. Contact your medical physician.
